At Meala, we are building the nextgeneration of functional proteins- designed to unlock better texture, simplerformulations, and more sustainable food systems.

This project focuses on scaling up our proprietaryclean-label texturizing proteins and bringing them closer to full commercialdeployment. Using our enzymatic technology, we transform plant proteins intofunctional ingredients that deliver structure, binding, and stability—withoutthe need for hydrocolloids or eggs.

By enhancing texture, improving processingperformance, and enabling consistent sensory results, our solution supportsfood manufacturers in developing high-quality products across applications suchas meat alternatives, baked goods, and emulsified systems.

Beyond functionality, the impact issystemic. Our technology allows manufacturers to simplify ingredient lists,reduce reliance on additives, and transition toward more sustainable, scalableproduction—helping accelerate the shift to alternative proteins.

This project is carried out incollaboration with NIZO and Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences,combining scientific validation, process optimization, and environmentalassessment. As the consortium lead and commercialization partner, Meala isdriving the transition from innovation to real-world impact—bringingclean-label functionality to market at scale.
